This list of wardrobe staples isn’t about making every woman dress in the exact same way. It’s about offering a framework that can be fleshed out with the silhouettes and fabrics that flatter your body type and speak to your personality and lifestyle. 

More than anything, it’s about making your life easier. Having a well-curated edit of staples to hand is a time-saver; when you’re up against the clock, having pieces that you know will work however you put them together means less time and energy spent fretting in front of your wardrobe and more spent out there living. The Perfect Tee

The greatest gift the normcore trend bestowed on the world was reframing wardrobe basics, that had up until that point signalled a lack of effort rather than any kind of sartorial panache. Suddenly, basic became effortlessly cool, and the plain t-shirt was the poster child of this renaissance.

The key with basic tops is the fabric - it must be the highest quality in order to maintain their shape and elevated feel over time. If your tee is greying and fraying it very quickly moves away from foundation piece and into frumpy territory.

Sticking to neutrals will ensure they go with everything in your wardrobe. And opting for a few different shapes is a good idea to see you through the seasons and keep your look interesting. 

The Shirt

A tailored shirt is the definition of polish and can be introduced into your collection in a number of ways. Size up for a look that feels nonchalant yet sexy, or opt for a shirt crafted from a fluid fabric that falls in a more relaxed way. Plain white is just as classic as simple stripes and little details like statement buttons will add a modern edge. 


As with any staple worth its salt, a shirt can be worn through all the seasons and with everything from smart trousers to denim from Monday to Sunday. When it comes to styling, follow the lead of fashion’s cool kids and layer over a thin polo neck in winter and over a white vest when it’s a bit warmer. Come summer, throw it on over your swimwear for the ultimate contemporary poolside coverup.

The Versatile Knit

A jumper can be versatile in two ways. The first is in its colour and fabrication - a neutral in cashmere, merino, cotton or any combination of the three will never date, will last and will go with everything.

Having a couple of strong silhouettes in your roster that will both complement your shape and give you options for outfit building is a good idea, or you may find that one cut in particular forms the foundation of your uniform, in which case you can play with fabrics and colours within that to suit the season and occasion.

We always apply our prints to a variety of silhouettes so that you can continue to shop your preferred shape, and design our prints with key colours that run throughout the season for easy styling with base and top layers. 

For those who are more print averse, a block colour in a modern silhouette will be just as effective. Use details like a detachable belt and adaptable neckline to switch up your look from casual to considered.  

The Mac

A piece that has earned its place in style history, our take on the classic mac refines every detail. Crafted from water-resistant cotton, this jacket is longer than traditional iterations and is free from any unnecessary features, like shoulder lapels, for a super sleek, bulk-free silhouette.

The Classic Jean

Finally, pick a shape that highlights all your best assets - a high rise to emphasise your waist, or a cropped length to elongate legs. When they’re in the bag, they will make even the simplest of outfits feel like a style home run.

The Leather Jacket

This season the silhouette to invest in is the bomber jacket, complete with leather ribbed trims that draw the shape in at the cuffs and hem so that you don’t feel swamped in fabric.

An investment in the truest sense thanks to its price point, the advantage of a leather jacket is that it will only ever get better with age; the leather will soften and acquire a unique, devil-may-care pattina befitting fashion’s most rebellious hero piece. You can also guarantee that black leather will go with everything in your wardrobe and elevate it in the process: a wide-leg tailored trouser, a floral dress, slouchy joggers.

The Kitten Heel

We bid farewell to vertiginous heels after the pandemic, when we all came to our senses and realised that we didn’t have to live in discomfort in order to look smart. Thus the rebirth of the kitten heel, which gives all the polish without any of the pain. 

A pointed toe creates a certain kind of elegance that lifts (by about 2 inches) a look. Classic black is chic, while a metallic is a modern neutral and snake print adds texture.
